Position: Optical Retail Assistant

A position has opened for an immediate start (Aug 2017) at our Adelaide Arcade store. This position is flexible to be a casual start to a part or full-time position.

 

The Pinhole Effect is an Optometry store that provides unique and exclusive eyewear products, and our aim is to provide the best memorable customer service to our clients whilst helping them find their unique eyewear styling needs. So we are looking for someone who is friendly and approachable, with immaculate presentation and excellent communication skills to successfully provide an enjoyable and memorable customer service experience. Previous optical experience is desirable but not essential. If you are willing to learn and are a fast learner, we can provide you with in-house training to become a competent individual to be able to read, understand and interpret an optical prescription. Once acquiring these skills, you will be best equipped to successfully manage and resolve our client's optical and styling needs. A passion for eyewear and styling is therefore essential to naturally give expert advice and have a keen willingness to keep up to date with product knowledge. You will also need exceptional attention to detail, have sound PC, literacy and numeracy skills to dispense glasses.

 

The retail environment can be fast-paced (lunch hours) and challenging, so being self-driven and adaptable is essential. To be suitable for this position, you should be able to remain composed in busy periods and be able to multi-task well. We offer optical repair services, such as frame adjustments and manipulation of very small objects, so skilled manual dexterity (steady & strong hands) is required. We go above and beyond to cater for our clients optical needs, so you will need to demonstrate initiative, have a positive attitude and effective problem solving skills.

 

Natural creativity is essential in this role to create an ongoing window and shop optical merchandising display.  You should be able to work well in a team environment as well as on your own.

 

You will also need to be comfortable with promoting our products on social media such as Facebook, Instagram and any other platforms online.  Excellent written communication as well as verbal telephone communication is therefore essential.
